Presbyterian Youth Connection

Youth Fellowship for 9th through 12th graders.

Meets on Sunday evening from 6:45 to 9:00 p.m. (CST) unless otherwise indicated, September through May.  A wide variety of fun activities are planned for June through August.

CHEER members are especially encouraged to participate in 
the NEW VISION worship 
at 6:00 p.m. each Sunday evening.

There is no NEW VISION worship during the months of July or August but

it does return in September.

 

Presbyterian Youth Connection is the National Youth Program of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Covenant Groups - The first Sunday of each month is usually set aside for small group discussion of some important topic related to being a Christian in today's world.

Thanksgiving Food Collection - Early in November CHEER members collect food to be distributed through the Heights Emergency Food Center.

Games with a Purpose - Activities that are not only fun but help the group learn about how their behavior affects others. Game nights happen three or four times a year.

Ski Trip - Each winter a ski weekend is planned to a resort in Eastern Pennsylvania or New York. Overnight is at a vacation home of a Fairmount member in the area.

Off site Activities - Once a month the group goes out for a social activity-Movies, Fun 'n Stuff, bowling, picnics are just part of the fun.

Jesus Gifts - annual December outing to buy gifts to be distributed by Garden Valley Neighborhood house.

Retreats - Once in the Fall and once in the Spring, CHEER goes to The Highlands for a weekend away. A special theme is studied through discussion, worship and play.

Fund Raising Projects - money is raised through sales of home-baked pies and cookies, a Chili lunch and the Annual Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast to support the Good Samaritan Project and other summer youth activities. Money raised goes to buy building materials for the hospital and to provide scholarship aid to participants.

Inward Bound/Habitat for Humanity - Opportunity for youths to spend a week living in a community while helping to build a Habitat House. 

Canoe Trip - Wilderness adventure to Algonquin Park in Canada. - More details to come.
