The Circle of Life is a powerful process for improving personal effectiveness, regaining health and preventing disease.  It is a self-improvement process for groups or individuals.  We use a well-designed, comprehensive manual adapted for religious congregations.  The sessions began in November, but look for an upcoming class. For more information, please call Mary Doll at 216.921.8269.

Children's Ministries
What are the Children Studying?

Church school for ages 3-kindergarten is called CHILDREN’S WORSHIP.  The class gathers for free play before moving to sacred space for Bible stories and related activities – art, music, drama, etcUpcoming stories are:  May 18 – Pentecost.  On May 11, class will be suspended for the youth musical Paul & Co; worship activity bags will be available from the ushers, and preschool/kindergarten students will also be welcome in child care provided in Room 5.

Church school for grades 1-6 is called DOORWAYS.   Class groups gather in Andersen Hall when DOORWAYS dismisses from worship after the Children’s Message.   The DOORWAYS theme for April is Paul’s Second Missionary Journey, also the theme for this year’s May 11 musical, Paul & Co.; workshops are Eat Your Way Through the Bible, Bible @ Your Fingertips, and Mary & Martha’s B & B. DOORWAYS will not convene on May 4 (Family Worship) or May 11, (Youth Musical) when worship activity bags will be available from the ushers.

Write God’s Word On Your Heart!
Sunday we premiered a new memory verse for May: “Every good gift and every perfect present comes from…God.” [James 1:17aTEV]  You can pick up the new card from the stylized bib-overalls on a folding wall in Andersen Hall.  Also available are project envelopes with the starter pack of six scripture verses for you to review and/or learn.  As you garden this season (or enjoy gardens in the neighborhood), you can be working your spiritual garden as well!

SUMMER CHURCH SCHOOL NEEDS LEADERS
As we move into a more relaxed pace for the summer months, we don’t let go of learning or caring about kids.  Church school continues throughout the summer, though the program shifts a bit.  We rely on caring adults and youth to lead a Sunday or two at their convenience.

Preschool/ kindergarten class will meet for STORY HOUR using these themes: diversity; the nature of God; prayer; and stewardship as lifestyle.  Elementary students will meet in a broadly graded learning lab to work with computers, art, games, kitchen kapers, books, etc., as they explore the Bible, mission, and Presbyterian history.

If you will share your faith by helping to staff summer church school, please contact Anita Burnett.  There are 54 slots on the staffing calendar.  Please prayerfully consider serving at least once for Christ’s sake.

Youth News

YOUTH CAR WASH
May 18th during the 11:00 am AND the 8:30 am Worship Service we will have lots of youth ready to scrub your car down AND vacuum the inside. If you want the interior cleaned, we kindly request that you straighten it up... at least a little prior to coming to church.  The interior cleaning process is slowed when we have to load and unload objects like golf clubs, tables, suitcases, clothing, excessive fast food wrappers, dirty cups and yes... live animals.

YOUTH SUMMER TRIPS
We have two week-long trips planned for you.  One of them is to Long Beach, Mississippi to work with the Presbytery there to rebuild damaged homes and the other is a nature camping and canoe trip to Algonquin Park in Canada. Information packets available for download.
